Labour Day Weekend 2019 is here!
BRIGHTON, Ont. – August 30, 2019 – One of the season highlights for the Southern Ontario Sprints every year is the Labour Day Classic weekend at Brighton Speedway. This action packed weekend features back-to-back nights of Southern Ontario Sprints 360 Sprint Car racing. This year is expected to be as big as ever!
The first ever Labour Day Classic Weekend was held in 2003 with the two most winningest drivers in both Brighton Speedway Sprint Car history and SOS history picking up wins on that weekend. Glenn Styres won on the Saturday and Rick Wilson picked up the win on Sunday. While Glenn has retired for 360 competition Rick Wilson will look to add to his feature win total. Last year Steve Lyons made his start on the road to all time wins with his first ever on Saturday night.
Three points races remain on the Southern Ontario Sprints 2019 schedule, including this weekend’s doubleheader, and the battle for the championship is red hot with Ryan Turner and Mitch Brown TIED for first place and defending champion Cory Turner only 6 points back in 3rd place.
Saturday’s race will kick off the weekend and feature a Dash race brought to you by Naylor Dock Systems , Docs Are Us and Four Points Sheraton Hotels before the 25 lap Main Event. Racing gets underway at 7:00 PM. and following the races Saturday night there will be live entertainment in the campground.
Local racing fan group "Man Cave Racing" are sponsoring an SOS hard charger award for both nights of Labour Day Weekend action.
The weekend concludes on Sunday with racing getting underway an hour earlier. Gates open at 4:30pm and the green flag for qualifying drops at 6 pm. Sunday is topless night at the speedway and after the 25 lap SOS feature Drivers will have the opportunity to take the wing off their cars for a 10-lap wingless Sprint Car dash. The Simon Pettit Memorial - Wingless Sprint Car Dash presented by RBM Carriers, Black’s Transport, Marbert Transport, Speedy Auto Machine, and Four Wide Design.
The festivities end with a presentation of fireworks provided by Mystical Distributing.
The weekends schedule sees Saturday’s Front Gates opening at 5:00 PM, Hot Laps will hit the track at 6:00 PM and the Green Flag will fly at 7:00 PM. Grandstand admission with be; Adults $20.00 Youths & Seniors $18.00 Children 7-12 $500 Family Pass $55 Children 6 & Under Free.  On Sunday the Front Gates open at 4:30 PM, Hot Laps will hit the track at 5:00 PM and the Green Flag will fly at 6:00 PM. Grandstand admission with be; Adults $20.00 Youths & Seniors $18.00 Children 7-12 $500 Family Pass $55 Children 6 & Under Free.  All tickets are available at the Front Gate.
